Streaming via Ustream.tv

Written on November 26, 2007 – 4:35 pm | by Jason Rhode |

I’m trying a little experiment with Ustream.tv, the FREE streaming video service that allows you to stream video with a computer and either built-in video camera or some other video camera that is connected to a computer. Over the next couple of days Tue., 11/27 & Wed., 11/28, I will have my test stream on during the day (8am-4:30pm) when I’m in my office. If you happen to have a spare minute, I’d love to hear if you were able to access my video stream.

What applications do you see for this technology in educational or children’s ministry contexts? For one, any instructor presenting anywhere with a WiFi connection and laptop with built-in video capabilities can stream the presentation back to students who might not be able to attend. Some incredible potential exists for usage in online training (live and recorded) settings. I’m looking forward to continuing to experiment with this technology in the future…stay tuned for more details!

I was able to successfully embed this stream as an announcement or content item within Blackboard.

What I can’t yet figure out is how to be able to embed a Ustream video into a WordPress blog. Anyone have any suggestions?
